A visit to Vegas, the Entertainment Capital of the World, would not be complete without at least one big show! The casinos are obviously the main draw, but the city is also becoming a mecca for visitors with little interest in gambling. With a vibrant restaurant scene, many foodies are choosing Las Vegas as a culinary destination. The same holds true for both shoppers and spa-goers, Vegas is no longer a seedy town that appeals only to gambling enthusiasts. If you are visiting Vegas for any reason, attending at least one show is a must, and these top 3 are sure to delight audiences of all ages! We have found that the current crop of offerings is strong indeed with Celine Dion, at least one of the multiple Cirque du Soleil shows, and magician Mat Franco should all be on your must-see list.
Celine takes that stage at Caesar’s Palace in a show that many find similar to Elvis’s glory days in Vegas: just one artist carrying the show who never fails to delight packed audiences. The full orchestra is another throwback to Vegas’s entertainment glory days, and the costume changes alone are impressive! This multiple Grammy Award winner adds some interesting features, such as holograms of special guest artists including Ella Fitzgerald! This show is family entertainment at its best, and of course, Celine closes out her performances with a heartfelt rendition of perhaps her greatest hit, “My Heart Will Go On.” Don’t miss it!
Cirque du Soleil
This popular Canadian troupe has made a sort of home here in Vegas. While they do still perform in traveling shows, there are multiple residences to choose from while you are visiting Las Vegas. There eight shows to choose from, depending on your tastes and schedule, and of course which one has tickets available! Long-running O remains a fan favorite, as does One, the Michael Jackson tribute. The MJ tribute is an amazing show in its own right, whether you are a diehard fan or just a casual listener of the King of Pop. Our favorite is Mystére, the original Cirque du Soleil show to hit town. It is lighthearted and filled with laughter while also including the expected acrobatics and physical feats that we have come to expect from Cirque.
The Season 9 winner of America’s Got Talent is now headlining at The Linq Hotel with a constantly changing magic show. He peppers a bit of a comedy act throughout the 90-minute show but the real draw is the gasp-inducing sleight of hand that will really leave you wondering how he performs these amazing acts! His show is action packed and will leave you with a greater appreciation of this resurgent entertainment category. In fact, he may just be able to make magicians cool again!
